Blessing for 2009

I have been reading (blog stalking, as Meredith would say) everyone's blogs for a year and loving catching up with old and new friends so I am officially starting my own! I only hope I can entertain others as much as you have entertained me. 2009 is going to be a big year in the Zipser household as we await our first child. I am 9 weeks pregnant (I know I am not supposed to tell, but I can't keep secrets!) and starting to relax a little as I get closer to the end of the trimester. Please send prayers (and advise) our way!

I found out at 4 weeks in the morning before work. Nichole and I were chatting in the morning as we often do and as we were talking about the day when she asked what was going on, I casually said "I just took a test and it might have a pink line". Nichole excitedly said if there is any line, it probably is positive, I couldn't believe it so I quickly hung up and re-showed it to Mike on his way out the door. He said it might be there, not sure so I quickly called her back and in my excitement (contained) she instructed me to go to the store immediately. For some reason I was very calm and told her I would wait until after work because I didn't have to pee and needed to go. She promised me to at least stop and buy more tests. As a side note, I am strangely calm/ unemotional in the biggest moments (engagement, wedding, etc) I don't know why, Mike thinks I am nuts. Anyway I digress.. So on the way to meet my rep, I picked up a digital test and slipped it in my suit pocket and waited until I had to pee again. So a couple of hours later I saw this and emailed it to M at work..

I then took about 7 more tests prior to the 1st doctors visit a few weeks later. We were able to share the news with our families at Christmas, so it was such a fun surprise and great Christmas gift! Mike and I are so excited but also still in disbelief. I find myself forgetting for a minute or wondering if it is still there. I guess that doesn't stop, at least from what I hear. I have been extremely tired, a little naseous (only threw up once) and a little crazy (or maybe a lot). We got to see the heart beat at 7 weeks and it was so amazing to see that little butterfly flicker. What a miracle. We go back for a visit on the 30th and I will have the full work up. I hopefully will have a better ultrasound picture then.

So here we are starting the new year with anticipation, excitement and feeling so incredibly blessed!
