Pictures from July

With Amy.  She has been a lifesaver to me!

This is how I sucked my fingers until I was six.  I am hoping the pacifier sticks with Eve since Sadie still sucks her two fingers too!

Nichole got to meet Eve, this is the only picture I took :(

One Month

Eve is one month old!  She is growing so quickly.  Here are some highlights for her baby book:

This month has been filled with the usual newborn fog!  I am adjusting to two kiddos and no sleep all over again.  Eve is doing much better than Sadie did with sleep and crying but I am still exhausted.  I have also had a bit of baby blues this time for sure, it is a cycle of emotions and then guilt for feeling that way :)

  • She is eating every 2.5 or 3 hours and spits up a lot.  I think I produce too fast and too much milk for her little tummy.
  • She is out of newborn clothes
  • She weighs 8.5 lbs so is gaining weight quickly.
  • She hates to be swaddled
  • Loves her big paci
  • We can't use wipes on her because she has such bad diaper rash from being allergic to them.  We just use water and a rag.  She also had a ton of poop, around 10 diapers a day.
  • She loves her bath
  • She will go 4 hours at night sometimes between feedings
  • She is fussy at night
  • She smiles in her sleep with her big dimple
  • She has two clogged tear ducts and has had antibiotics for her eyes.  I am also massaging them to get them to open.  Several sources including my DR told me to put breast milk in her eye to help clear them up.  Apparently it has antibiotic properties.

Sadie has been a big help.  She loves to hold her and loves to pat her and rock her.  She mimicks everything we do for Eve with her babies, including nursing them.  She is so sweet and says "Aww baby sister its ok, I am here"

We have been able to get out some and I have showered everyday so its progress, right ??

Eve Elizabeth

Eve Elizabeth was born via c-section on June 29, 2012 at 7:25 pm.  She weighed 6 lbs and 12 oz (sister was 6 lbs and 11oz) and was 19 and 1/4 inches long (sister was 19 1/2).  She was scheduled to be delivered on 7/3 but she had other plans.

My water broke on that Friday in a big way.  Luckily I was at home and called mike to come home and that it was time.  This pregnancy has been full of L&D trips and luckily false alarms.  The doctor on call that day happened to be the same one we saw a week and a half ago when I thought my water broke but just lost my mucus plug.  This time there was no mistaking it!

Since I had eaten a little that day we had to wait for a few hours before the surgery could be done.  I had felt bad all day with back pain and sick to my stomach.  Mike and I headed to L&D and then we got ready for her arrival.

She is perfect and healthy and doing wonderful.  After 4 days in the hospital we are home and Sadie is loving on her and can't wait to kiss and hold baby sister.  We are so grateful for our two girls!

Meeting her sister for the first time, she was so excited

Eve's name took some time for us.  We love the classic names and this one is not commonly used.  It projects a strong name and means "life".  After our scares this pregnancy it seems to fit her perfectly.  Elizabeth is my middle name and several of our family members names.  It means God's covenant or promise.
